"Home Again” Pet Security Deposit Loan Program
“Because every heart deserves a home”!

During hard economic times, pets and companion animals are surrendered to shelters and rescues, when folks are faced with owned foreclosures or loss of rental housing, when owners must sell or find cheaper housing through loss of household income.  Finding “pet friendly” rental housing is hard at best and when it is found, usually there is an additional pet deposit required and in some cases the landlords are also requiring licensing, spay/neuter, vaccinations and tagging before they will accept a pet.  Although most folks in the situation do have income, their tight budgets do not allow for the entire outlay required to keep their pet and thus, they feel they must give up their family companions.

Montana Companion Animal Network wants to help keep the “family” intact and with the generous support of the PetCo Foundation and the Humane Society of the United States, we are proud to launch our “Home Again” Pet Security Deposit Loan Program.

The “Home Again” Fund has been established to provide loan funds to assist folks in paying a pet security deposit when they must enter rental housing due to foreclosure; must find alternative rental housing due to loss of household income or in some cases assist low income elderly and/or disabled folks to secure a rental to keep their pet or to acquire a companion from a local shelter or rescue.  The “Home Again” Fund is a loan program and the money is required to be paid back monthly. As the funds are paid back the program can help someone else.

In order to assist as many households as possible, the loan cannot exceed one-half of the pet security deposit needed and repayment will be up to a maximum of twelve (12) months; based on household income. Once the loan is approved, a written loan agreement will be signed and the check will be made payable to the landlord.
