Introducing Dandy and Traveler.  Both are registered Missouri Fox Trotters with papers.  Traveler has the fluffy, flaxen mane and tail and high white stockings.    I’m told he has had an extensive show career.  Both have trail experience.  They are currently barefoot with recent trims by Dusty Miles, who reports that they are both excellent to trim.   Both seem quiet, mannerly, respectful of personal space and easy to handle.  Dandy is reported to be the “sweeter “ of the two and would make a really good companion animal as he is non confrontational.   But I gotta give Traveler the prize for “cute.”  I have seldom seen a cuter face and forelock!.  Notice the little blue fleck in his eye.  I was very impressed with Traveler today as I had the opportunity to watch him handle “a crisis”.  As I’m sure you’re all well aware, weather conditions have all the snow covered ground, which is pretty much everything, dangerously icy and slippery.  It makes walking for man and beast treacherous at best.  Traveler and Dandy we’re obediently trying to do what their owner was asking them to do which was simply walk across a patch of ground with a slight grade.  None of us had much choice in the matter…we didn’t have another option.  But the wind had blown the ice perfectly smooth…like skating rink smooth.  They carefully tippy toed across…but as luck would have if…Traveler lost his front feet and went down to his knees on the ice.  The whole thing was in slow motion and he did not land hard so there is no concern about injury …but I was very impressed with the choices he made in the moments that followed.  By rights, I would have expected him to have panicked, scramble and go “splat”.  But he choose to take his time and quietly think his way though his predicament.  He carefully rebalanced, picked his front end up and went on as if nothing had happened.  It thought that spoke highly of him.  There a lot to said about the wisdom age brings.  Don’t overlook these guys because they have a little age on them.  Both have been supporting themselves pretty darn good on nothing but pasture.  Imagine how they would bloom if they got a little TLC and treats!  We’d love to see these guys go together as they have been together since 1996, but because they are older and squared away emotionally, it won’t be the end of the world if they must part ways.  The most important thing is that they both get good homes where they will be loved and appreciated.  Please give Dandy and Traveler your consideration!  Let me know if you’d like to meet them…we’ll make the necessary arrangements! Please CALL THERESA at 363-2898

This lady is in need of a new home.  She is 25 yrs young and fit.  She has worked for her living but has been well loved and cared for.  Registered Appoloosa.  Her name is Apple.  She is broke to ride and has been used as a pack horse for wild game as well as other items.  Her family does trail maintenance in the wilderness and after slipping on the ice last winter, she is having a tough time stepping over tall down fall.  See the pictures of the right knee and the left hock.  Notice the range of motion demonstrated and the gentleness displayed. She has had her health and coggins pulled as recent as one month ago.  Her owners are lovely people who don’t want to take her to the auction, but they work for a living too and since she can no longer fill their needs, she needs a home.  She has been working right along up to now.  They feel strongly that she would be a great horse for an adult just learning to ride as she is a been there and done that kinda girl.  They say she can handle a long layoff and then be saddled back up and put to work without worry.  She would be suitable for light to medium work on the flat.  No more mountains for her please.   If you would like more information on her or to make an apt to see her in person…please get in touch.  To good home only.  No Horse Traders or meat buyers please.

Look at the 2 beauties we have in need of your help and consideration.  A mother and daughter pair.  Salish (mother)  and Flax (daughter).  More beautiful markings on an overo mare are seldom ever seen!  She is outstanding in her color and markings!  And her conformation looks really good from the pictures. She’s has had 5 babies and is an excellent mother.   Both have been well loved, worked with and cared for.  They are quiet and easy to handle.  Their owner never planned to have to give them up but has had a drastic life change and is moving.  Because she is a loving and responsible person, she wishes to relinquish them to the right home.  She wants to be a part of choosing their new home and would like them to be able to stay together.  So while you’re initial contact will go through me….I’ll be putting you in touch with their owner.  She will want to meet you personally and possibly see your facilities.

POSTED 11/02/08 - Salish & Flax ADOPTED 11/9/08

From the owner:  “Flax will be two in March.  She is very sweet and calm.  She walks right into a trailer with no issues (only loaded three times!) Salish is a brood mare only.  She points her left front and Shawn Gleason could not find anything on the x-ray of her.  She is an excellent mother... her looks speak for her!  I would like both to stay together and be a part of a herd.  I do have stipulations on them being in a horse safe pasture with some kind of shelter.  I would love for them to go to horse savvy folks who would train Flax to use her awesome potential and love them both.”

If you have room in your life for these beautiful girls….please get in touch.
