It is not unique that a black Lab needs a home, but Shadow has been at our shelter off and on for the past 4 years.
Shadow first came to Pintler on 11/23/05. She was picked up by Animal Control in Butte. I was told that her owners knew she was at Pintler but decided that they did not want her (Shadow was her real name; the name that her former owners gave her). When she came to Pintler, she had hair loss and skin problems. A lab test confirmed a thyroid condition. After a few weeks on thyroid medication, her hair came back and her skin problems cleared up. Shadow still was over weight.
On 12/23/06, Shadow was adopted (13 months after arriving at Pintler). This adoption was short lived, however, as she was brought back on 02/10/07 because she was aggressive towards their other dog.
On 04/07/07, Shadow was adopted again, this time by a family with no other dogs. Shadow lived with this family until 05/12/08. The husband and wife divorced so Shadow was brought back to Pintler Pets.
Shadow is not a young dog, and has basically lived the past 4 years at Pintler Pets. She is developing urinary problems on top of her thyroid condition. Shadow is extremely over weight. She loves everyone, however, and would make someone a wonderful companion. Her only downfall is that she does not get along with other dogs.
